The Way We Seek

I

I rise,
I fall,
I love,
I hide,
I seek to find,
But what do I yearn to find?
Am I meant to seek with something in mind?
Or am I meant to seek the unknown?

Sit with that for a moment.

We are always seeking something.

Even when we say we’re “just living,” our hearts are leaning toward something.
A relationship.
A version of ourselves.
A future we’ve imagined.
A feeling we hope to experience, and so on.

But how often do we pause and ask what we’ve already decided life should look like?

Do we give God room to surprise us?

It’s subtle.

We pray for guidance, but quietly hope it leads where we expect.
We ask for blessings, but picture the package they should arrive in.
We seek, but with an outline already written.

There’s nothing wrong with desire.
Desire is human.
Desire is holy.

But there’s a difference between holding a desire
and gripping it.

One is open.
The other is closed.

Sometimes I wonder if seeking is less about finding something specific
and more about staying available.

Available to grow.
Available to be stretched.
Available to be delighted in ways we didn’t anticipate.

What if the unknown isn’t something to fear
but something to trust?

You have been given a life.

A mind that can imagine.
A heart that can love.
A spirit that can discern.

And with that comes choice.

You get to choose how tightly you hold your expectations.
You get to choose whether you live braced or open.
You get to choose whether you allow yourself to be surprised.

YOU GET TO CHOOSE.

Maybe the invitation is not to erase your vision.
Maybe it’s to loosen your grip.

To say, this is what I think I want,

and I am open to something greater.

When we live that way, seeking becomes softer.
More curious.
More alive.

So as you rise and fall and love and hide and seek,
ask yourself gently:

Am I searching only for what I’ve already imagined?
Or am I leaving space for something better than I could have planned?

You have the opportunity to decide.

This life is a gift.
How you posture your heart toward it is your choice.

And that choice can change everything.

With so much love,

Alvina
